Testing k-binomial equivalence

چکیده
Two words w1 and w2 are said to be k-binomial equivalent if every non-empty word x of length at most k over the alphabet of w1 and w2 appears as a scattered factor of w1 exactly as many times as it appears as a scattered factor of w2. We give two different polynomial-time algorithms testing the k-binomial equivalence of two words. The first one is deterministic (but the degree of the corresponding polynomial is too high) while the second one is randomised (but more direct and efficient).

Another Generalization of Abelian Equivalence: Binomial Complexity of Infinite Words
The binomial coefficient of two words u and v is the number of times v occurs as a subsequence of u. Based on this classical notion, we introduce the mbinomial equivalence of two words refining the abelian equivalence. Two words x and y are m-binomially equivalent, if, for all words v of length at most m, the binomial coefficients of x and v and respectively, y and v are equal. The m-binomial c...
متن کاملEquivalence of K-functionals and modulus of smoothness for fourier transform
In Hilbert space L2(Rn), we prove the equivalence between the mod-ulus of smoothness and the K-functionals constructed by the Sobolev space cor-responding to the Fourier transform. For this purpose, Using a spherical meanoperator.
متن کاملBinomial Skew Polynomial Rings, Artin-schelter Regularity, and Binomial Solutions of the Yang-baxter Equation
Let k be a field and X be a set of n elements. We introduce and study a class of quadratic k-algebras called quantum binomial algebras. Our main result shows that such an algebra A defines a solution of the classical Yang-Baxter equation (YBE), if and only if its Koszul dual A is Frobenius of dimension n, with a regular socle and for each x, y ∈ X an equality of the type xyy = αzzt, where α ∈ k...
متن کاملSmall-sample estimation of negative binomial dispersion, with applications to SAGE data.
We derive a quantile-adjusted conditional maximum likelihood estimator for the dispersion parameter of the negative binomial distribution and compare its performance, in terms of bias, to various other methods. Our estimation scheme outperforms all other methods in very small samples, typical of those from serial analysis of gene expression studies, the motivating data for this study. The impac...
متن کاملDyck Paths, Motzkin Paths, and the Binomial Transform
We study the moments of orthogonal polynomial sequences (OPS) arising from tridiagonal matrices. We obtain combinatorial information about the sequence of moments of some OPS in terms of Motzkin and Dyck paths, and also in terms of the binomial transform. We then introduce an equivalence relation on the set of Dyck paths and some operations on them. We determine a formula for the cardinality of...
